Dolores Bouckaert

°1976, Ghent, lives and works in Ghent.

Dolores Bouckaert is director, author, visual artist, actress and performer. Her main instrument and research project is her own by illness condemned body. A constant in her work is the friction between being together and revolting against it. She pursuits this attempt to intimacy with a special focus on how our body gives shape to all these feelings in Gij zult gezond worden (2000), In Search of the Ultimate Seduction (2002), Sterven in Stijl (2005), The Kindness of Geometry (2010) and Deceptive Bodies (2014). During her residency at KAAP (2016 - 2018), she created her first solo Gallop (Biography of a Body).

As an all-round artist she expresses her studies in divers media. Apart form her performances, she also had various group and solo exhibitions, both in Belgium and abroad.

Bernard Van Eeghem & Dolores Bouckaert receive research grant from the Flemish Government

Bernard delves deeper into Fernando Pessoa's Ode Marítima by researching how this epic poem can be translated into (moving) images. During her research, Dolores invites fellow artists to encounter her and props from previous pieces, guided by Martha Nussbaum's acclaimed work The Fragility of Goodness: Luck and Ethics in Greek Tragedy and Philosophy.
